  Security as a process

Security is a process that combines:

  • Sophisticated Technology
  • Human Interaction
  • Proper Education

If any part of this chain breaks, there is weak security in the organization. The weakest link theory is very true when it comes to security. Every component must have the same goal in mind and must work towards that goal. Technology, education and human use of resources should all work in sync in order to secure the network.

An organization may have great security controls in place and a great IT staff which ensures that security monitoring is adhered to strictly. However, the entire security of any organization can be compromised when a single user, who has an administrator level account without a password on their computers, shares network access with a friend.

Security is the responsibility of all levels of management within the organization and occurs in all phases of a systems life cycle. Remember, security requires efforts from all of us!

We are all responsible and accountable for the appropriate and judicious use of resources and services made available to us by our company and our clients.
