Security is an emotion….a feeling of safe / secure being


Security is the protection afforded to an automated information system in order to attain the applicable objectives of preserving the integrity, availability and confidentiality of information system resources

 

Security boils down to enforcing a policy that describes rules for accessing resources

 

Security is the ability to identify and eliminate threats and vulnerabilities

 

Security encompasses all of the safeguards in a information system, including hardware , software, personnel policies, information practice policies, disaster preparedness, and the oversight of all these areas


The purpose of security is to protect both the system and the information it contains from unauthorized access from without and from misuse from within.
