Cyber Labs are planned to be joint ventures of the State Police and NASSCOM. These are supported by the sponsoring IT companies located in the city. The Bangalore Lab is being fully financed by Canara Bank.
Each Cyber Lab has an Advisory Board, comprising of senior police officers and representatives of the IT industry, banks and NASSCOM. This Board is expected to oversee the Lab’s functioning and provide a platform for ongoing engagement among the major stakeholders.
The Cyber Labs are oriented to maintain a close liaison with the local Cyber Crime Investigation Cells, in order to know the trends in cyber crimes and provide interactive technical support.
Each Lab will have one Sub Inspector of Police as a Project Administrator and two Police Constables from the local police organization, as well as one Project Manager, engaged by NASSCOM on contract basis. It also has some instructors, who are available to conduct training sessions on specific topics, in addition to many volunteers, who attend as per requirement and convenience. Experts from IT Industries, Telecom Companies and Lawyers with interest in technology law also have come forward to impart training as and when required.
